Our precious little boy, Aiden, was diagnosed at birth with profound hearing loss in both ears; he was born deaf. This site is to help journal my feelings, keep family and friends updated on our son's journey, but more than anything, I hope our story can help ease another family's worries as so many other families have eased mine.
Another chapter in our life opens ... this is Our Journey to and beyond cochlear implants ... Our Journey to let Aiden hear.

Not sure which I'm more shocked from ...
his sentence,
"No thank you mom I don't want to eat no chocolate cake, sorry."
count them - THIRTEEN {yes, 13!} words!
Or,
the fact he honestly didn't want any homemade chocolate cake.
More and more I am convinced that Ava's articulation issues are simply developmental and that with time she will get there. She came home from school today and nearly has our national anthem "Oh Canada" down pat. That was my wow moment today. Our kids are pretty freaking amazing aren't they?
Great! And bizarre -- no cake?!? I've always felt that the wonderful thing about parenting a special needs kid is that we get to take profound joy in things that other parents tend to take for granted. And I like joy.
I can't believe what big boys we have!! Caden has the same shirt, back pack and shoes that Aiden has, too cute! So glad he reaching beyond where we thought he ever could. God is soooo amazing!
